iTunes, the exemplary music management software from Apple continues to be one of the best sources of music online. With a media player, library and radio-broadcaster, all rolled into one, iTunes can be accessed by all Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, and iPod. However, iPod was the only device initially through which one could download, play, and organize digital audio from iTunes. People fond of music built up extensive collections, which, however, would be rendered useless if they chose an Android phone, as most of us don’t prefer carrying a separate device for music. So, is there a way to use these extensive iTunes collections over an Android device? We should be pleased to know that there exist more than a couple of ways to use iTunes with Android Smartphones.
The simplest way, is to transfer them manually by connecting your Android device to the PC, using a USB cable. You can then drag and drop the music folder on your PC and into the pop-up window that shows the folders of your phone. Once the transfer is complete, the music files will appear in your music player app. The process can be tedious and is also limited to the storage space available on your phone or mircoSD card.
However, if you don’t have enough space on either of them, then storing your music on the Cloud is an ideal alternative. Up to 50,000 songs can be stored on the Cloud storage using Google Play Music, which can be accessed either from your phone or laptop. So, you can port all your iTunes and access them from Google Play Music, which is also compatible with iTunes. For this, we need to sync your phone and PC together. The initial step is to download Google Music Manager on your laptop or desktop. Next you need to download Google Play Music app on your Android phone. Once you have signed up and logged into your Google account, you need to create or choose the location where the files would be uploaded. You can then initiate the process of uploading the iTunes by taping the start option on Google Music Manager. Google Play Music app on the computer then syncs with the phone’s version automatically and you can see music files appearing in your Music Library.
The other option to transfer iTunes to Android is by using a dedicated app. Among the several apps available on Google Play Store, iSyncr is perhaps one of the simplest and most proficient. It is also available in freemium version.
Start by downloading the app on your phone. Search for the desktop app and download it on your laptop or desktop. Then use a USB cable to connect your phone and PC, before opening the iSyncr app’s PC version. This initiates a pop up window asking for the files you want to sync. You can choose the iTunes by ticking them before clicking on Synchronise button. iSyncr then ports all your iTunes files onto your phone; you can play them using any of your preferred music player, or use the Rocket Player app provided by iSyncr.
These options ensure that your iTunes on any of your Apple device can be accessed on your Android phone of tablet with ease. You can thus, get the best of both worlds, as you now have the extensibility of iTunes and utility of your Android phone to enjoy together.
