What is annual recertification?
Recertification is an annual process in which consumer's who participate in the Lifeline program self certify that they are still eligible to participate in the program for up to another 12 months.
The Federal Communications Commission’s ("FCC") Lifeline rules require all eligible telecommunications carriers ("ETC's") to annually re-certify the eligibility of every Lifeline subscriber. As an ETC, TAG Mobile is required to conduct this annual recertification to ensure our consumers' continued eligibility for the Lifeline program. Since recertification is required by law, failure to recertify will result in a consumer being de-enrolled from the Lifeline program.
When do I recertify?
The FCC has changed its annual recertification rules to require that each and every Lifeline participant must recertify on at least an annual basis. You may be required to recertify for other reasons during the year, but at a minimum you must recertify every year on or before your service anniversary date. In addition and as a result of the FCC's rules changes, for calendar year 2012, all Lifeline customers who were program participants prior to June 1, 2012 must recertify by December 31, 2012
What happens if I do not recertify?
Since annual recertification is required by the FCC's rules, if you fail to recertify you will no longer be eligible to participate in the Lifeline program and will be de-enrolled. You may not be able retain your current mobile telephone number. In order to re-establish Lifeline supported service, you will have to complete a new application and re-qualify for the program.
